John is a clinical child and adolescent psychologist and professor in the UCLA Department of Psychiatry. John also directs the UCLA Child OCD, Anxiety, and Tic Disorders Program, where his work focuses on the development and testing of effective treatments for childhood anxiety and related disorders. John has a long history of advocacy for children and families with mental health issues and serves on Boards for several national organizations, including the Anxiety Depression Association of America, the International OCD Foundation, the Tourette Syndrome Association Behavioral Sciences Consortium, and the Trichotillomania Learning Center. John is also President-elect of the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and Trustee of the American Board of Professional Psychology. John and his wife, Caroly Pataki, are proud to have sent their four children through SMMUSD schools, their youngest a graduate of Santa Monica High School in 2014.
